1 Month Check-up

It's been a month since our precious baby boy was born! Where has the time gone? We're finally adjusting to getting up several times during the night, eating meals in shifts, and all the other stuff that comes with a newborn. We love every minute of it! Carter is developing such a funny personality- he smiles all morning long, he always wants to be where everyone else is and see what is going on, and he talks ALL the time (whether he is awake or asleep!). We went to KPA for our 1 month check-up with Dr. Roberts on Thursday, March 19th. He is still a little jaundiced so they wanted to take blood to check his levels. It took 3 sticks to get the amount of blood they needed for the tests. Needless to say, he HATED that! They were very shocked that he had such a temper already!

They took off an ounce for his diaper so he actually weighs 11 pounds, 8.5 ounces (84%).
He measures 22.6 inches long (78%) and his head is 37.2 cm (30%). He is growing like a weed!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Courtney just loves holidays so she bought (and was given) several St. Patrick's Day things for Carter. Here are a few of the pictures we took on his 1st St. Patrick's Day!

Aunt Elizabeth and Uncle Mike Visit

Joe's sister Elizabeth and her husband Mike flew in from Arizona on Friday, March 13th. This was their 1st time seeing Carter. We were happy to have them visit for the weekend. We hung out around the house and on Saturday, everyone went shopping at the mall (without Carter and Courtney- we didn't want to get him out yet). Joe's mom and step-dad came in on Saturday so we could all visit together.

Carter's 1st Sponge Bath

On Saturday evening (after the dr. appointment), we decided it was time for Carter's 1st sponge bath. He had not had a bath since the hospital! We wanted to keep all of the "baby stuff" upstairs so we washed him in the guest bathroom (now his bathroom!). We got out all the cute stuff like his sponge turtle and bathrobe! He didn't have the reaction that we had hoped for- he hated it!
A not too happy moment- having his hair washed!

The entire family posing for a picture! We love our little man!

The bath wore him out!

Carter's 1st Dr. Appointment

On Saturday, February 21st, Carter had his 1st dr. appointment with Knoxville Pediatric Associates. We chose Dr. Roberts for Carter's doctor. We weren't able to see her on Saturday because she wasn't working so we saw Dr. Larmee. Carter has blocked tear ducts so we are watching them to see if they will open on their own or if we will need medication. Other than that, Dr. Larmee said Carter looked great!

All ready to go to the doctor!

He was not too happy about having to strip down to only his diaper! We have already discovered that he has a temper when things don't go his way.

He had lost a little weight but they said that was completely normal. He was still a big boy at 8 pounds 11.5 ounces! This weight put him in the 72%.

Carter has a little head- 34.75 cm. He is in the 26%.

Coming Home

On Friday, February 20, we got to come home. The pediatrician came by early that morning and said we could leave as soon as Courtney's ob doctor released us. At around 11am, we were all cleared to go home. Several familes were released at the same time so we had to wait our turn to be wheeled down to the car.
Ready to go home!

Carter decided he was not ready to go home. He had to eat twice before he was ready to leave the hospital. We FINALLY were all ready to leave at around 3:30pm!

All ready for his 1st car ride!

Joe put him in the car and he immediately went right to sleep!

We arrived home after a long day of waiting!

Cousin Reed, Cousin Owen, Aunt Mandi and Uncle Aaron came to visit that evening.

Grandaddy and Nanny (Joe's dad and stepmom) came to visit for the weekend!
